Tips on Caring for Bulbs

Back

Spring flowering bulbs are a great delight at this time of year, but did you know that bulbs store food for next season’s flowering AFTER the flowers have finished?

What does that mean for bulb care?

  1. Remove spent flowers but do not remove the leaves.
  2. Fertilise the plants and keep them well-watered until the leaves die off.

Do you need a good water-soluble fertiliser for your bulbs? Miracle-Gro® All Purpose Plant Food provides all the nutrition bulbs need.

Caring for tulips

Lift tulip bulbs as soon as the leaves yellow. Store the bulbs in a cool, dry place.

Remember to put them in the crisper of the fridge before you plant them out again next Autumn.
