How can we help you keep your garden blooming?

And here are some simple ways to solve three main challenges with flowers & bulbs.

What do you want to do? Ways to achieve your goal How Scotts® can help

Prepare a bed for flowers or bulbs.

  • Choose a sunny location - most annuals and bulbs prefer full sun.
  • Eliminate weeds & grass with herbicide.
  • Dig the soil over well. Mix in fertiliser and organic material such as compost (about 5%).

Roundup® Ready to Use Weedkiller will kill off weeds without poisoning the soil.

Prepare the soil with Osmocote® PLUS Garden Beds Controlled Release fertiliser - it contains all the nutrients flowering plants need.

Prepare the garden bed with Osmocote® Garden Soil, which consists of rich composted organic material fortified with Osmocote Controlled Release Fertiliser, Hydraflo2 wetting agent, Stimulex and gypsum.

Plant seeds or seedlings
  • Water well beforehand.
  • Plant seeds at the time of year and depth recommended. Do not allow soil to dry out.
  • Handle seedlings with care to prevent damage to roots.

It is very important to keep water up to your plants initially. Maximise the effect of watering by using a wetting agent such as Hydraflo2® or by using products that contain a wetting agent.

Encourage flowering

Apply a soluble fertiliser regularly once buds begin to appear.

Miracle-Gro® All Purpose Plant Food can be applied with a watering can or with the Miracle-Gro® Garden Feeder.
